   I think the Amazon Kindle DX should be what you want. It is an ebook reader with a big screen; and the screen uses a technology that simulate reading on paper so it won’t hurt your eyes even for reading a lot with it. There are some very good reviews about it here:

   Yes, the Kindle DX should be a perfect match for your needs. Read this thorough review and you’ll know:

   Don’t use iPod for reading. If for occasional reading no problem; but if you read a lot it will hurt your eyes because iPod isn’t designed for reading (it has backlight, just like your computer screen).

   One final tip, you can get a lot of free books in the public domain here, after you get the Kindle:
