Project Natal- The Verdict

Microsoft’s presentation at E3 really was something special. I was getting a bit bored until my favourite director Spielberg walked onto the stage hinting at a new Microsoft gadget.

The conference was then handed over to Lionhead studios where they showed Milo off to the world. The woman playing the game was actually able to hold a conversation with the in game boy and pass objects to him from the real world. Although critics have said, “What’s the point” you can’t say that isn’t cool.

You are able to actually use your whole body in the games. In the Burnout Paradise demo you can pretend to hold a steering wheel with your hands and step in and out to go and stop. Everything can become more realstic thanks to the full body control Natal has. This could actually be the future of games altogether not just a fancy wavey wand. As well as this Natal can scan any real world item such as a skateboard so you can use your own board in game but not actually need to stand on the board itself.

If this is more than just hype then this is going to be huge. As well as this, at the recent Tokyo game show major developers such as Sega and Capcom have both announced their backing of the hardware and this is on top of all the other major developers which include EA, Activison and of course the expected Microsoft Game Studios.

For more information on this amazing new gadget it might be worth checking out a gadget blog.
