These days, everyone knows, even if you don’t use them yourself, how massively popular social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter are. Whether you use these sites for social networking or to help your business, the amount of time we use these sites for is increasing every day.
Just by looking at some internet stats, you can see how popular these sites have become. Yesterday, 26% of global internet users visited Facebook.com, making it the second most popular site in the world. Youtube is the next most popular social networking site with 23% of internet traffic. Although Twitter isn’t as successful with a mere 4%, that has risen dramatically over the past 3 months and it looks to become one of the biggest sites in the future.
Our need to tell everyone about our lives, all of the time, has led to the introduction of many gadgets and gizmos that are build for social networking. These great gadgets allow us to reach the world wide web anywhere we go. One gadget that has move ahead in leaps and bounds recently are mobile phones, one of the most popular new ’smart phones’ being the iPhone. Other mobile devices that we can’t get enough of are netbooks, smaller versions of laptops that are designed for on-the-go connectivity.
Our requirement to be connected to the world, all of the time, supports the claim that we as a world are addicted to our gadgets. Even if you’re notaddictedto social networking gadgets, you won’t have to look very far to find a gadget you can’t live without. Whether it’s an iPod or a mobile phone, these are the main gadgets that we just can’t live without.
