Not so long ago the first landline phones were released, these phones used finger dialling and they took the world by storm, people were able to communicate with people in other places. But as everything these phones began to develop calls got a lot clearer and we could call overseas locations for a lot less.

But suddenly the mobile phones were released and they caused a huge amount of industry buzz. Technology is developing so fast, we can now communicate with video calls on our cell phones. The calls have become a lot more affordable and your phone can pick up signal almost anywhere.

So do we really need landlines anymore? I presume both yes and no is the answer for this query for quite a few reasons which we will now look at:

1) In most instances companies around the world will always need to use land lines as they need to transfers and track calls all the time. Although cell phones are very handy I just do not feel that they can be used for business purposes.

2) On the other hand are landlines really useful in the home anymore? I mean mobile based calls are just getting a lot cheaper so why get a landline? The thing about landlines is that they only work in specific locations you cant be too far away from the hand unit if you are using a cordless set otherwise the signal will go, besides that they always need charging otherwise their batteries will die.

In the end only time will tell what is going to happen in the forever advancing technological world. Lets wait to see what happens in the next few years.
