There are many protagonists out there from the video games that it is pretty hard to keep track of the best ones, however here is a small list of the most loved creations.

Mario

This has to be at the top, I cannot even begin to think on how many games have been created around just this one person. The very first time Mario appeared was in the arcade game Donkey Kong where he is known as jumpman. Since this appearance there have been many games featuring him as the main protagonist of the game and many more featuring him like Smash Bros and the Mario Kart franchises. He has to be at the top, I cant see him ever moving.

Mastercheif

Bungie rather stupidly turned away from focusing Halo: ODST on Mastercheif, has anyone else noticed that the game didn’t sell too well. Masterchief of course first hit the screens in 2001 when the first game was released and he has appeared in two other games along with various novels. Will we ever see the cheif in another Halo game.

Sonic The Hedgehog

1991 is the first time that the strange looking blue hedgehog hit the screens and he was Sega’s attempt at rivalling Mario. Sonic has to be the second biggest creation in gaming history of course only being second to Mario, is this why he often appears alongside him. He has appeared with Mario in both the Olympic games and in Smash Bros Brawl. It is rumoured that he is going to be making an appearance in Mario Galaxy 2. It would certainly spoil a Mario game.
