HTC Desire – How Good Is It?

In a second attempt to market a device that competes in the heavily populated Android smartphone market, the HTC Desire has been released. The new version expands on the platform of the HTC Legend to provide better usability right out of the box with cues from the Google Nexus One. The HTC Desire is equipped with a rapid 1GHz Snapdragon processor that can handle just about anything. Homescreen options include a variety of widgets and shortcuts for user functionality.

If you have an application open, you can just scroll across the screen’s bottom with your finger in order to activate the app’s features. You can even use this with the music, contacts and messaging screens if you wish, allowing you to switch to whatever music track you want to play. Movies are played back with crystal clarity with the 3.7″ screen that gives you access to your favorite films on the go.

With the Desire, you get 576MB or RAM and 512MB of ROM. The 1,400mAh battery pack lets you run the phone for hours on end without running out, and the microUSB and 3.5mm headphone ports make connecting it to your devices even easier. With the HTC Desire, you even get a 5 megapixel camera, complete with an LED flash and autofocus, so you can take photos and video at an alarming resolution, with movies recorded at 800×400.

The HTC Desire is equipped with a relatively small 512 MB of memory which does not provide a great deal of space, but the expandable memory slot allows for a total up to 16 GB with an optional micro SD card. The touchscreen measures at 3.7 inches and features WVGA resolution with rich, vivid colors and excellent details. The HTC Desire offers a default Sense UI which does a great job capitalizing on the display’s capabilities.

The measurements of the HTC Desire are 119 x 60 x 11.9mm, and it comes in a very sturdy case, designed in a way so as to make it creak and break resistant; also, you can prevent slipping with the soft touch back. The optical mouse and four hardware keys make it simple to navigate, allowing you to move around the features and widgets that make the HTC Desire one of the most sought after Android smartphones on the market.
